What do you mean I can make coffee at home? I never drank coffee as a kid growing up... I think most kids didn't. Coffee was a novelty for me that started in college... "oooh, we are studying late... we are sooo tired... it's so cool to study in a coffee shop" --- so, there I was --- initiated into the Starbucks world with no real coffee experience. Give me a latte, give me an americano... but shoot, I didn't even know what a coffee bean looked like.
About a month ago, I decided that I needed to start drinking my coffee while I was getting ready (why wait for the morning drive to work?). It didn't quite make sense to drive to my coffee shop (Naked Lounge, Midtown Sacramento), then drive home and get ready, then drive to work ---- especially with the price of gas and the pain in the ass parking situation of midtown (sometimes you just don't want to parallel park first thing in the morning)... I decided to get a coffee maker..
Off I went --- what a selection!!! I went with the $12 coffee maker - who knew how long this little DIY-phase would last... So, armed with a coffee maker, I set off to find out what ingredients I would need to for this little experiment...
A week goes by - I go to my coffee shop and buy some coffee. Mo asks me some questions about how I want it ground. Sweet Mo, she had no idea that I was a rookie. I told her about my coffee maker and she did something magical with the grinder thing... and I had coffee... BUT WAIT!! "Mo, what is the stuff I put in my coffee? Over there on the counter?" ... "Uh, sugar and cream?" . Oh ya.
A week goes by, I added those items to my coffee list. I was ready to rock with coffeemate (French Vanilla) and sugar in hand...
I spoke with my cousin -- she said something about filters... oh yeah.
A week goes by, I buy filters and get a care package from said cousin that has coffee and homemade goods for dipping.
Now I am ready... it's been a month since I set out on this path and I've got to say -- I really enjoy making coffee at home. If I make two cups, I can have one hot in the morning and an iced coffee during my afternoon slump.
Love it. Feeling quite domestic about. All jacked up!
