Food Photography -- really taking a look at what you eat

So,, sitting yesterday, reading the O Magazine, came across an interesting idea. Take a snapshot of everything you eat.  This aligns with the concept of food-journaling in order to create awareness and accountability. Photos are much faster and can really have an instantaneous impact on one's decision.. so here goes, expect to see my food in this blog.

Heat & Humidity ... Trains, Planes, Automobiles

I suffered a heat wave on the East Coast this past weekend... never ever have I been so sticky, so sweaty, so sunburnt, etc... but, it was a great, memorable weekend with Katie - lots of laying around, a trip to the shore, some good movies, some quality girl time indeed.

hopped on a train (that was 20 minutes late) at around 1:15 EST --- went a ways down the track until it lost electricity (huh?) and we stopped and we sat there …. In the 95 degrees, 50% humidity weather… no big deal… I kept a cool head (not literally). Train broke down a second time about 20 minutes later, so everyone got off the train and got on a new train… the new train didn’t break down. Once I got to Penn Station, I grabbed a cab and off to La Guardia we went… cab had AC – things were good. Got to the airport around 3--- had a few beers, watched some soccer games, saw the Yankees lose, --- all fun airport stuff. Hopped on my 5:30 EST LGA to Denver flight… and sat on the tarmac for an hour – WHAT? – it didn’t matter, I was sleeping. Apparently. LaGaurdia is known for their “long line” to take off – neato. So, we took off. There were only 2 screaming babies on the flight… but other than that - landed safely in Denver, boarded an on-time flight to Sac and I was home at last...

New York City... what a week

Monday ---- All day travel. Met up with Jj in Denver and had half a beer --- my attempt at keeping June dry ends. Wondered about Broadway and 7th Ave in NYC ... lots of tourists. Bought I HEART NY shirts. Tuesday ---- Wore I HEART NY shirts to business meetings --- it was a big hit and set the appropriate tone for building relationships. Had a great work day... but this blog isn't really a work journal, so 'nough said about that. Had dinner at 44SW --- a quaint Italian cafe on 9th Ave. Mama's the owner and we spent lots of time talking. Wednesday ---- Gave the agency time to work on Tuesday's inputs... day off for me! Went to Central Park. Found The Lake. Found the BoatHouse. Drank champagne. Rowed a boat --- drank champagne on the boat. Returned flutes to Boathouse --- had a few drinks and taught foreigners to play quarters. Got a ride to dinner in a Pedi-Cab --- Steve was strong. Dinner at Dos Cominos featured beers with blended margaritas -- all together in one glass. De-lic-ious. Thursday --- Back to the office. Tired of cabbing to work. If I lived here, I would be a subway girl. Left work. Saw Avenue Q --- good show - wouldn't recommend it with lots of energy. Go see Rent instead. Met up with Katie and girls.... Crossed the state line into Jersey. Friday --- Jersey. Catching up with Katie.... very nice .. Making plans for bachelorette party...

Au revoir... Shore tomorrow (funny that it's called the "shore" on the east coast,,, I always thought it was the "beach")... BBQ with some friends tomorrow night... who knows what Sunday will bring .... home Monday night :-)

Restless ...

Blogs can be personal. You can write them as if the world will read them, you can make them your daily journal, you can reveal what's in your heart. I was talking to Domina about this before she left for Peru and it has me confused --- do I talk about what's on my mind? Do I talk about the weather? What will my parents and friends think about what they read? What if the random stranger stumbles across my blog? So far, I've introduced my blog (Domina has one. She is in Peru. I want one too. I am in Sac.). I've posted pictures... I've talked about coffee -- which is as arbitrary as talking about the weather... I've taken down pictures... and now I am sitting here restless.... wanting to blog about what's on my brain but a little intimidated by the black and white of it all.

Something I know is this --- I might be restless and that might have a lot to do with being 26... but, in general, people are curious, people are resilient --- I need to embrace those things.

Here are a few little goals for myself:

In June, I am going to do something that gives me an intense adrenaline rush. (anybody want to jump out of a plane? maybe some type of extreme sport?)

In June, I am going to cut waaaayyy back on drinking --- in order to save up my "buzzability" for my Bucks Lake & Tahoe trips in July.

In June, I am going to see each of my best friends at least once (Katie in New York next week, Erica in Davis the following weekend, and Katie in SF --- to be planned)

Ok... obviously, I didn't really talk about what's on my mind but at least I came up with some distractors. :-)
